Google Nexus 6 May Be Called Nexus X, Coming Mid-October.
A new report reveals that the much-anticipated successor to the Nexus 5. thought to be called the Nexus X (and not Nexus 6 as previously rumoured), will be unveiled by mid-October.
The report also claims that the next Nexus tablet, believed to be manufactured by HTC, will also be unveiled alongside the rumoured Google Nexus X.
Android Authority claims that the rumoured Nexus 9 tablet and Nexus X smartphone alongside "a new software initiative" (most probably hinting the final release of Android L) will debut either on October 15 or 16, citing 2 different sources familiar with Google's plans.
Further, the sources claimed the new Nexus hardware may be revealed in mid-October, however Android L will only be made officially available starting November 1.
The report was also uncertain whether the November 1 date will see Google starting shipping the new Nexus X and Nexus 9 devices running Android L, or rolling out the Android L update to the existing Nexus line-up.
We remind readers the above mentioned release dates are a part of the leaks and rumours, and must be taken with a pinch of salt till confirmation by Google.
If the mid-October release date is true, the report would contradict earlier leaks. The much-leaked Motorola 'Shamu' handset, expected to hit the market as the Nexus X, has been rumoured to launch on October 31. Notably, some reports have indicated Google might launch two Nexus smartphones instead of one 5.9-inch Nexus X only.
