Jolla Sailfish

Launched Jolla Sailfish OS-Powered Smartphone at Rs. 16,499.
Jolla, a company formed by a group of former Nokia employees, has entered the Indian market with its eponymous smartphone, the Sailfish OS-powered Jolla. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 16,499, and will be available exclusively via Snapdeal from Tuesday.
The company had announced back in July its first smartphone would soon be making its way to India exclusively via India. Jolla had then said interested customers could register to be notified about updates via its site.
For those unaware, the highlight of the Jolla Smartphone is that it runs the Sailfish OS mobile operating system, which has been developed by a few former employees of Nokia, who had worked on the MeeGo operating system that was being developed in partnership with computer chip giant Intel. The smartphone itself features a replaceable back cover, and the first 90 units ordered on Snapdeal will receive a VIP box with Aloe, Poppy Red, and Keira Black colour back covers.
Have a look at Key Specifications:
- 4.5-inch Estrade (540x960 pixels) display.
- 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera alongside an LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
- 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
- 1GB of RAM.
- 16GB of inbuilt storage (expandable via microSD card).
- 2100mAh battery.
It is compatible with roughly 85,000 Android apps, with access to Yandex and Aptoide Stores. It also supports fast 4G Internet connections. The smartphone is currently listed on Snapdeal.
In February, Jolla had announced that it would be expanding the availability of its smartphone to Hong King, India, and Russia this year. The Jolla smartphones were initially available in Finland via local carrier DNA's shops. The smartphone is also available to European users via the firm's official stores for EUR 399 (approximately Rs. 34,000).
