You know it’s the beginning of the festive season when you see a story of a car launch almost everyday on topgear.com. This time, it’s VW’s time to offer a new package to people out in the market for a diesel-auto combo.
VW has launched the updated Vento with a new 1.5-litre TDI engine that’s mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The engine is an iteration of the now-killed 1.6 TDI, which despite the downsizing, churns out the same amount of power that the 1.6 did. And to be precise, that’s 103bhp and 250Nm of torque that’s out in full swing at just 1500rpm.
Along with a new drivetrain, the updated Vento also gets a new flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated audio control, new set of 15-inch alloys and some tweaking to its styling, especially to the face. Also on offer are two new shades – Toffee Brown and Night Blue.
The Vento is now available with three engine options – 1.6-litre petrol, 1.2-litre turbo petrol and this, 1.5-litre TDI. The 1.6 petrol is available only with a five-speed manual gearbox, the 1.2 TSI with a seven-speed dual-clutch unit, and the 1.5 TDI will have both options – five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG.
The new Vento demands for ₹7.44 lakh for the base petrol variant and the top-line TDI DSG will take away ₹10.94 lakh from you (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The detailed price list for the new Vento is here:
1.6 MPI (MT): ₹7.44-8.87 lakh
