#All Windows Phone 8 Lumia Handsets Confirmed for Windows 10 Update.
While Microsoft is set to release its Windows 10 operating system in mid-2015, its Lumia handle on Twitter has already confirmed that the OS would reach all the Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia handsets.
This is certainly exciting news for Lumia handset owners running Windows Phone 8 and higher, with the first handsets running the first iteration of the OS being released as far back as September 2012. It also means entry-level handsets like the Lumia 520 will receive the update. The official Lumia account on Twitter failed to mention the rollout dates of the Windows 10 upgrade, but it did add that the firm will be launching Windows 10 devices in future, which is not surprising. The tweet came as a reply to a query asked by a user named @_Y06_ on 11 November.
Notably, recent reports had indicated Microsoft is already working on Windows 10 for handset devices, claiming Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 will include the rollout of Cortana to more regions, a data toggle in the Action Centre, sortable settings, and more. The third update was claimed to be will be Windows 10. Unfortunately, here also the rollout dates were not known.
Announced on September this year, the Windows 10 platform will apply to future versions of Windows on mobiles, tablets, desktop PCs and hybrid portable devices.
The same experience will carry over to the Xbox One console and potentially other devices as well. Users will see an interface suited to their device type, screen size and input methods, so for example, the full-screen Start UI will not necessarily be a part of the desktop usage experience, but will appear for touch-first tablet users.
